Samsung Galaxy A50 128 GB Blue
Review of the smartphone Samsung Galaxy A50 from the new budget family of the company
Galaxy A50 is the older model of Samsung's latest budget smartphone series. The release of this series is an attempt by the Korean manufacturer to find a way out of the current deplorable situation into which he has brought himself in recent years. At the budget level, Samsung smartphones of the Galaxy J and Galaxy A series could not compete with competitors from China for a long time, because, being more expensive, they were inferior to them in almost everything.
Now we are witnessing a kind of "reboot": Samsung has finally revised its policy regarding budget lines. They are combined into one, and several models were born in it at once - from very simple to quite technically advanced: Galaxy A10, A20, A30, A40 and A50. Today we will look at the most interesting of them - the older model Galaxy A50.
Samsung Galaxy A50 has a nice design. True, glass and metal are not used in the case, all this is solid plastic, and the design has lost the remnants of its forme Samsung Galaxy A50 128 GB Blue r originality, the smartphone is already indistinguishable from competitors. But the smartphone still looks neat and, perhaps, more expensive than its level.
However, the quality of the materials still affects: the plastic back cover, imitating glass, does not have an oleophobic coating (or it is very weak), so the device quickly becomes covered with fingerprints.
But the side frame was not slippery at all, although it is glossy. In the hands of this thin and light body it is held securely, it fits comfortably in the pockets of clothes - everything is excellent in size.
The camera, which almost does not protrude beyond the surface, does not interfere with working with a smartphone lying on the table. When you touch the screen, the device does not wiggle, it lies steadily. And the back cover itself is not as slippery as real glass, so there is no fear that the smartphone will "slide" to the floor on its own.
There are no fingerprint scanner pads next to the rear camera, but still Samsung took into account the disastrous aspect of their last year's flagships, and now the triple camera module and the flash under it not only look neat, but also correctly located: not under the fingers in the middle, but on the side. As a result, the cameras do not overlap with your fingers during shooting.
The LED event indicator on the front panel was not installed, there is simply no place for it here. The cutout in the screen is small, teardrop-shaped. It looks great (in any case, in contrast to the "bangs" of last year), but only the front camera fit into the cutout.
The charging status and notifications can be monitored, as usual, on the screen in Always On mode (by default, by the way, it is turned off). The displayed information is standard: hours, missed events, charge, etc.
There are no complaints about the hardware buttons. The side keys are conveniently located on one side, while on the opposite there is no stupid bixby button that would be pressed every time. Even if the buttons are not too large and have no differences in surface texture, it's better this way.
The card slot is not a hybrid one, which is good news. It can simultaneously install two Nano-SIM-cards and one memory card. Hot swap supported.
At the bottom, the USB port is represented by a Type-C connector, which is quite pleasant and unexpected for a "budget" family. It looks like the ice has finally broken. Here, at the bottom end, the main speaker and the spoken microphone are brought out. The manufacturer also retained the 3.5 mm headphone output, which is good news.
The upper end is not weighed down by anything, except for an additional microphone for the noise reduction system.
The Samsung Galaxy A50 comes in three equally attractive colors: blue, white and black. The device was not protected from dust and moisture.
