Audi A6 - one of the most popular models of the firm, a car of the upper middle class, the successor of the Audi 100.
The release of the C4 model range under the name Audi 100 / S4 continued until May 1994, when a radical restyling was carried out and a new index, A6, was introduced. The bonnet and the grille pattern have been redesigned, and the front direction indicators have changed from orange to milky white. The rear lights have become wider (the trunk keyhole has even moved to the right one). Updated front and rear bumpers, as well as side moldings on the bottom of the doors.
The Audi A6 is available with a fully galvanized body, with front or all-wheel drive (quattro), a wide range of gasoline (including dual-supercharged) and diesel (direct injection) engines, longitudinally located at the front, wi Audi A6 2020 45 Premium AWD quattro Black th manual and automatic transmissions.
The reliable and perfect chassis (the factory designation of the platform is C4) remains the same. All representatives of the Audi A6 / S6 lineup, which has been on the assembly line for three years, are extremely diverse. Since August 1995, a sports all-wheel drive version of the Audi S6 (Q1 —type) has appeared. It is distinguished by an additional emblem on the radiator grille, a 20 mm lowered body position due to a tighter sports suspension, low-profile tires 225/50 ZR16 and light-alloy wheels in 7.5J dimension, trim of more rigid seats with especially developed lateral support only in leather. The engines came from its predecessor S4: a 230-horsepower 2.2-liter V6 (AAN) and a 290-horsepower 4.2-liter V8 (AVN) from the Audi V8.
The Avant station wagon (in Germany they are called combi), produced since 1991 under the name 100 Avant, continues to be produced in the same form, but under the A6 index. These five-door station wagons are more like hatchbacks with increased useful volume - just right for short trips out of town, if there is no caravan. They have a lot of convenient pockets for "small things", but during long trips, no more than four will be comfortable in the cabin.
But the large trunk volume of the sedan is 510 liters (10 liters more than that of the BMW 7 Series), a spacious interior, excellent noise insulation (even after many years of intense operation), high power-to-weight ratio and the Procon-ten security system - just those advantages that give the Audi A6 sedans advantages over other reputable brands. Let's add to the above and a calmer image of the Audi brand, which is appreciated by many wealthy people who are sickened by the very cool image of BMW.
From its predecessor, the A6 inherited a wide range of economical, high power-to-weight and dynamic gasoline and diesel engines, the most popular of which turned out to be the petrol V-six, which accounted for more than half of new car sales. They abandoned only outdated engines: gasoline AAR (2.3 liters) and turbodiesel AAS (2.4 liters). Since the summer of 1994, several new power units have been added to the range. For the buyer who counts every penny spent on the purchase and operation of the car, options with a 20-valve 1.8-liter 125-horsepower gasoline engine (ADR) and a 90-horsepower turbodiesel (1Z) with a displacement of 1.9 liters are more suitable. It is noteworthy that they are equipped with a very successful five-speed manual transmission, which is also installed on the all-wheel drive versions of the Quattro. From the same period, the Audi A6 TDI began to be equipped with a new five-cylinder 2.5-liter 140-horsepower turbodiesel (AEC with a turbocharger and an intercooler).
October 1995 for Audi, as well as for fans of high-speed varieties of these cars, was marked by the appearance of new gasoline 30-valve 2.8-liter 193-horsepower V6 engines (ACK). The top speed of the A6 with this engine is 225 km / h (229 km / h for the Quattro).
All models of the C4 platform were discontinued in the summer of 1997 in connection with the development of the completely new A6 (4B-type).
The new generation Audi A6 was first presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1997 (sedan). In February 1998, the station wagon A6 Avant was introduced.
This series is the first to introduce a new vision of Audi's signature style. It is no coincidence that the architecture of the A6 h
